Staurikosaurus (Lizard of the Southern Cross) was a dinosaur from Brazil featured in Strangled. It is a Herrerasaurid and one of the first dinosaurs.

In this episode, Staurikosaurus is shown as a small predator, behind Rutiodon. Their favorite prey is shown to be Desmatosuchus. Unknown to them, they are about to be caught in the Triassic-Jurassic Extinction. Hours before the impact, two Staurikosaurus are shown ignoring the mysterious rumbling. When plumes of steam emerge from the ground, bunches of Staurikosaurus are shown following a herd of Desmatosuchus to higher ground.

- Staurikosaurus did not live in North America, it only lived in South America. Though given the fact that the continents were all connected it may have visited North America.
- Staurikosaurus went extinct 25 million years before the extinction happened, it is infact these Staurikosaurus are Coelophysis
